The fat arse of the law with a touch of British humour is set to make you laugh out loud
8.5/10
Having Straandlooper already released Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 1 already released to iPhone and iPod Touch, it was inevitable to be released to the rest of the platforms. Teaming up with the one of the top name in the adventure series, Straandlooper with Telltale Games unleashed Hector to the rest of the world.
The first episode called 'We Negotiate with Terrorists' pretty much say everything that you will do during this first episode of the hilarious series. Your job is to negotiate with a terrorist and supply the needs for his demands.
You play the part of Hector, the Inspector detective in the police force, the kind of person who is a fat, heavy drinker and smoker i.e. the fat arse of the law, hehe. The game is hilarious, and I said it again since, it's very hilarious. In fact the first part of the game is waking up from a hangover with no pants and escaping a cell with the use of a condom and a shoe lace taken from a severed leg. The British humour is very well placed and it has a bit of bad language on it to make it more interesting. Your job is to attend to the Terrorist's needs which involve a clock tower, a park and a porn shop. Thou it's hilarious and extremely funny, this game might not be intended to everyone due to its nature involving a number of naughty stuff in the game.
The game although a bit short offer but with the number of puzzles and humour, it makes up for it. The game has a great deal of gameplay and the puzzles can be quite challenging but not impossible. The solutions are quite funny since most of the time they involve some humour in them to be solved. If you are a fan of the British humour, this is the game for you.
The control and interface of the game are quite simplified being the fact that it was originally an IPhone game. You have the inventory on the bottom of the screen, the map and hint system there as well. To interact with the object around you, just click on them to look at them and double click to pick them up. To combine two objects you simple click on one and on the other. Also you can use the double click to use items and talk to people around you. As you can see the interface is quite easy to use.
The graphics are in 2D and in a cartoonish style having the style of Puzzle Agent as it regards to movement and surrounding, but a bit more colourful and with more animation. As it regards to sound effect and soundtrack, the game performs quite well and very good. The voice acting is good being the fact that they are all done by Richard Moss who is also the producer of the game.
Conclusion
The first episode in the Hector Badge of Carnage is very hilarious and a very good point and click adventure with challenging but not impossible puzzles. The language is very funny and will keep you laughing a lot with its quotes, example "Worm Fart". Thou a bit short, the humour will make up for it. Episode 2 thou, should be very interesting as it continues with the story after Hector manages to supply the demands to the terrorist.
