Red 5 Studios, a developer of global massively-multiplayer online (MMO) entertainment founded by key members of the World of Warcraft team, today announced details of their participation in the Game Developers Conference China. On August 29, Taewon Yun, Red 5’s Vice President of Production and Operations, will deliver a lecture and lead a question and answer session about the continued globalization of MMOs. Additionally, Red 5 will host a booth on the show floor where conference participants can learn more about the company and open positions with their Shanghai and California offices.
During his lecture, Yun, who co-founded Blizzard Korea and was responsible for launching World of Warcraft in Asia, will address the benefits and challenges faced by MMO developers and publishers bringing massive games to the global market. The hour-long lecture takes place on Wednesday, August 29 at 9 a.m.
With representatives attending from both their Shanghai and California headquarters, Red 5 will also host a booth on the show floor where potential recruits can learn more about the company, employment opportunities, and the organization’s vision for the next truly global MMO.
Notable Red 5 representatives attending on behalf of the studio include several former Blizzard team members, including William Petras, Harley Huggins, and Brian Hsu, three of the creative minds instrumental in developing the unique art style of World of Warcraft. Rounding out the Red 5 team is Ed Stark, veteran tabletop game creator, formerly of Wizards of the Coast, who will also be on hand to speak with conference attendees.
GDC China takes place August 27-29, 2007 at the Shanghai International Convention Center.
